1) Never boil your idlis more than 15 mins ,boiling more will make your idli more harder.

2) During sauting add the mustard only when your oil gets heated and also add other ingredients only after mustard splutters.This is done to bring out the flavor and benefits of mustard in our food.

3)Before cooking  marinating fish with a tsp of turmeric , stone salt , lemon juice for 30 mins and washing well after 30 mins will remove fish smell

4) Whenever making Urad dal Fritters ( Ulunthu Vadai) ,soak urad dal in ice cold water for minimum 5 to 6 hours .Soaking in ice water gives you pluffy and soft fritters also the yield will be high.

     6) Leftover chapatis? Leftover chapatis will lose its softness and becomes dry next day so how to make it fresh? Dip leftover chapatis in water once and then toast in tawa to retrieve its softness like fresh ones.Enjoy..

7) Stomach upset or pain ? add salt , 1 full lemon juice to 1/4 glass curd  and mix well , drink it immediately for instant relief.And if still pain continuous boil 4 tsp tea powder in 1 glass of water till water reduces to 1/4 glass , then mix 1 full lemon juice and drink immediately.Any type of food indigestion will be cured.

KADAMBA / KANAVA MASALA /SQUID FISH CURRY

Hi, Sea has lot of creatures in it that we can cook and we were much more unaware of many . Squid fish is one among the yummy species which I was totally unaware even after coming to Chennai.One day in market I saw them and surprised that they are selling octopus ( it looked like that to me :)). Then I surfed in net and found actually they are squid ( kadamba / kanava) and not octopus , My friend Saranya cooked this gravy for us during her visit to our home .I copied the recipe from her and tried next week itself.Though the squid fish looks very weird the taste was so yummy and there is no fish odor in that.It just tasted like mutton. The cleaning part is little tricky but easy, I suggest once you finished cleaning dispose the waste immediately out of your house as the waste from squid fish is very smelly and also it starts leaving water .So dispose the waste of squid as quick as possible.
