BRIYANI / KOHLRABI VEGETABLE BRIYANI

Hi Everyone, Briyani must be favourite to most of us and there are various versions in making briyani. The preparation of this Mughal dish varies from state to state, city to city. This version of briyani is one of the method which my mum is following for so many years. Only Kohlrabi ( Nool kol in tamil) was lying in my fridge so I used it but you can add any vegetables like carrot , beans ,soya chunks , cauliflower , green peas,fried bread pieces of your choice. Recipe is as follows, SERVINGS : 3 MEMBERS INGREDIENTS : Basmathi rice                     –   1 ½ cup. Kohlrabi                               -   2 nos. SARAVANA BHAVAN STYLE SAMBAR / HOTEL SAMBAR

Hi Everyone, SARAVANA BHAVAN SAMBAR !! There is a magic in this sambar ..Before marriage I heard about Saravana Bhavan Sambar so many times and my friends use to tell me it has such a aroma and taste that no one can prepare such a sambar, After my marriage I was so tempted and I urged my husband to take me to Saravana Bhavan ,Finally one day we went to that hotel and I immediately ordered for Sambar idli , at once I tasted a spoon of that sambar I told my husband "I don’t think it is so complicated to prepare I can prepare this in home also!!" (And I got a stare from my husband too). Soon after coming home I surfed for the recipe and got so many recipes ,I tried all versions and finally came out with the perfect taste of hotel sambar. The main magic in hotel style sambar is the tamarind and jaggery .The combination of this sour and sweet taste gives you such an awesome sambar. KARACHUTNEY / TOMATO ONION CHUTNEY

Hi All, KARACHUTNEY When I post this recipe everyone will think whats there in this recipe to post such an easy recipe but the fact is there are many versions of karachutney .The basic ingredients are Tomato and Onions only but the ratios and slight change in frying gives each version each different taste.I will share all the versions I have in my hand with you . This version of chutney I got from my Aunt and it is in the top list . Though the taste is awesome and spicy the method of preparing is very easy, KARACHUTNEY INGREDIENTS : Onion                                             –   2 nos (big) Tomato                                           –   4 nos (medium sized) Garlic                                              –   4 to 5 pods. Dry red chillies                                –   3 to 4. Curry leaves                                   –   a sprig. Coriander leaves                            –   a bunch. Gingelly oil       

KARA PANIYARAM

Hi Everyone, In south India we not only have spicy tasty dishes but also lovely and beautiful dishes in our menu.One of such beautiful appetising dish is PANIYARAM . There are many versions and methods of making paniyaram , One of the easy version of making it is   with our Dosa batter. There is a separate recipe for Dosa batter which I will share with you  soon but you can make paniyarams with Idli batter too . Today I have made  paniyarams with my leftover idli batter only but the taste is delicious and there wont be much difference between idli batter paniyarams and dosa batter paniyarams. KADAMBA / KANAVA MASALA /SQUID FISH CURRY

Hi, Sea has lot of creatures in it that we can cook and we were much more unaware of many . Squid fish is one among the yummy species which I was totally unaware even after coming to Chennai.One day in market I saw them and surprised that they are selling octopus ( it looked like that to me :)). Then I surfed in net and found actually they are squid ( kadamba / kanava) and not octopus , My friend Saranya cooked this gravy for us during her visit to our home .I copied the recipe from her and tried next week itself.Though the squid fish looks very weird the taste was so yummy and there is no fish odor in that.It just tasted like mutton. The cleaning part is little tricky but easy, I suggest once you finished cleaning dispose the waste immediately out of your house as the waste from squid fish is very smelly and also it starts leaving water .So dispose the waste of squid as quick as possible. Other than that the fish tastes heaven , spicy, yummy and very easy to cook. I have
