Hi Everyone,
In south India we not only have spicy tasty dishes but also
lovely and beautiful dishes in our menu. One of such beautiful appetising dish
is PANIYARAM .
There are many versions and methods of making paniyaram ,
One of the easy version of making it is with our Dosa batter.
There is a separate recipe for Dosa batter which I will
share with you soon but you can make paniyarams with Idli batter too .
Today I have made paniyarams with my leftover idli
batter only but the taste is delicious and there wont be much difference between idli
batter paniyarams and dosa batter paniyarams.
KARA PANIYARAM |
Let me share my recipe,
SERVINGS : Yields about 35 paniyarams.
INGREDIENTS :
Dosa batter – 2 cups.
Onion – 1 no (big)
Green chillies – 1 no
Curry leaves – a sprig
Oil – as required
Carrot – ½ cup ( optional ).
Coriander leaves – a bunch
Salt – as required.
PREPARATION :
1)
Chop onions , green chillies , curry
leaves and coriander leaves finely .Grate the carrot also.
2)
In a bowl add the batter along with onions , green chillies , curry
leaves ,carrot ,coriander leaves , salt and mix well.
3)
Heat the paniyaram pan and drizzle few drops of
oil in each hole.
4)
Take a ladle full of mixed batter and fill half
of each hole ( as paniyaram will expand to full hole during boiling).
5)
Drizzle few drops of oil again on the top of each
hole and boil in low or medium heat for 3 to 4 mis.
6)
When the edges of the paniyam are
boiled use your spatula to flip each paniyaram and boil for 2 more mins.
7)
When you insert a tooth pick in any of the
paniyaram and you should find the tooth pick coming out dry without wet batter
then it means your paniyarams are done.
8)
When done use your spatula to remove the
paniyarams from pan and serve hot.
9)
I served it with kara chutney you can serve with
any sidedish of your choice.
HAPPY COOKING!!!
