HORSEGRAM DAL / KOLLU PARUPPU KUZAMBU

Hi Friends,

Today my recipe is going to be horsegram dal kuzhambu.
I ever wondered how people from same town and from same place has different method of cooking!!!
My mum cooks this kolluparupu in a way and my aunt in her own way but finally everyones recipe is awesome and in every method this kuzmabu will taste great.

HORSEGRAM DAL KUZAMBU

This method is from my aunt and will share my mum's recipe soon.

Servings  :  3 NOS

INGREDIENTS :

Horsegram dal                                 -    3/4 cup.
Dry red chillies                                -    2 to 3 nos
Cumin / zeera                                   -   1/2 tsp
Pearl onions / small onions              -   10 nos .
Coriander seeds / coriander powder -   1/2 tsp.
Curry leaves                                      -   a sprig
Mustard                                             -   1/4 tsp.
Salt                                                    -   as required.
Coconut oil / sunflower oil               -   1 tsp.



METHOD :

1) Boil the horsegram dal with enough water ( enough to immerse the dal ) in pressure cooker for 5 whistles.
2) In a pan add oil (Coconut oil will taste better with horsegram dal) ,when oil heats add mustard followed by cumin ,curry leaves , chopped onion and fry till onions turns translucent.







3) When onions are done add coriander seeds ( I added coriander powder) and fry for a minute and switch off.
4) Add the fried ingredients to a blender and blend for one round and then add the boiled horsegram dal and grind for one more round.The mixture must be coarse ,not too soft.
5) Empty the grounded gravy in a vessel and add salt as per requirement and serve with !!!hot rice
    with a tsp of ghee and enjoy..
