CHAKKA APPAM / STEAMED JACKFRUIT RICE CAKE

Hi All,   After visiting Kerala I got addicted to Kerala foods😍. Kerala cuisine is unique and it is very natural.Recently I tried Chakka Appam ( Steamed Jack fruit rice) and here Iam sharing the recipe with you. As tomorrow is Varalakshmi Viratham and I have to clean the house , make ravaladdo and so many pending works are there, so I quickly move to recipe today. COOKING TIME : 45 mins. SERVINGS : 10 cakes. Hi All, RICE FLOUR !! This is one basic recipe that everyone should know. Store brought rice flour will not give good results for most of dishes , so home made is best. I made this flour to make seedai ..but my seedai was utter flop , it dissolved in oil once I dropped them 😱 ,will once again later and post you the recipe. Now the recipe for rice flour alone for your ref, INGREDIENTS: Raw rice / Pacahrisi – 1/2 cup. METHOD : Wash and rinse raw rice well with running water. Soak them in water for 3 hours. Drain the water and spread the rice in a cotton cloth and sundry for 7 hours or till the rice looks dry.When you touch them with your palm the rice should be dry and should not stick to your hands.  Hi Everyone, Now a days we celebrate our festivals with television and with store brought sweets and savories!! During my childhood days festivals are more delightful when we prepare our sweets in home.So I decided to prepare savories in home for festivals to bring more happiness to my family and also a satisfaction to me too. Squid fish is one among the yummy species which I was totally unaware even after coming to Chennai.One day in market I saw them and surprised that they are selling octopus ( it looked like that to me :)). When I was learning cooking my chapatis will be either crisp like disc or rubbery that you need to dentist after chewing😭 So I try so many versions to make my chapati perfect and this warm water method is one success method , This method is so easy that your chapatis will be very very soft and light. A few tricks to make your chapatis perfectly soft and puffy are , Add water little by little while kneading .
