We
all love our sidedish with bright red colour ,even my little daughter
loves red colored sidedishes for breakfast and dinner.I make this
red coconut chutney often to go with mysore masala dosa.
This
chutney can be used for multiple purposes , you can spread it on dosa
for mysore masala dosa and also goes well as sidedish too.
I
made this chutney last week for masala dosa and the recipe is as
below for your ref too,
SERVINGS : 3 members.
INGREDIENTS
:
Coconut
– 1/4 cup.
Channa
dal / Kadalai parupu– 1 tsp.
Urad
dal / ulunthamparupu– 1 tsp
Garlic
– 3 pods.
Chilli
powder – 2 tsp.
Tamarind
1” piece - 1 no.
Sugar - 1/2 tsp.
Salt
- as required.
Coconut
oil – 1 tsp.
METHOD
:
- Heat oil in a wide pan and add channa dal , urad dal and saute till golden brown.
- Add garlic and fry till brown , followed by grated coconut , chilli powder and fry till aroma comes from coconut ( may take upto 3 mins).
- Remove from flame add tamarind , salt ,sugar and grind to fine paste.
- Serve as sidedish for idli , dosa and also as spread for Mysore masala dosa.
NOTES
:
1)
Instead of chilli powder you can add dry red chillies and grind.
