Hi All,
I mostly make chutney with capsicum, since capsicum salads
and in fried rice are not preferred in our house.
So in order to make them consume capsicum I make this chutney,
you can make this chutney in any type of
bell pepper. Either green, yellow or red too.
The chutney is easy to make and goes very well with roti,
dosa and idli.
The simple recipe is as below,
COOKING TIME : 20 mins.
SERVING : 3 members.
INGREDIENTS :
Capsicum (chopped) – 1 cup.
Dry red chillies – 3 or 4 nos.
Tomato – 1 (small).
Onion – 1 no ( medium sized).
Channa dal – 1 tsp.
Urad dal – 1 tsp.
Coriander leaves – 2 tblsp.
Salt – for taste.
Tamarind – small (optional).
Oil – 1 tblsp + 1 tsp.
METHOD :
1) Chop capsicum
to small pieces.
2) Also
chop onions and tomatoes roughly.
3) Heat
oil in kadai add capsicum and fry in low flame till it cooks to soft.
4) When
capsicum turns pale in colour and shrinks ,remove it to a plate.
5) In the
same kadai add 1 tsp oil and add channa dal, urad dal.
6) When
they start turning to golden brown ,add dry red chillies, onions and saute till
translucent.
7) Add
tomatoes and saute till mushy.
8) Remove
from flame and add coriander leaves, tamarind, salt.
9) Grind
to fine paste with little water.
10)
The chutney taste better as thick thokku so add
little water.
11)
Serve with your fav dinner or breakfast.
NOTES :
1) You
can use any type of bell pepper from yellow,red or green too.
2) Be patient
in frying capsicum to avoid raw smell.
