Today we are
in Kochi for vacation. And I should say it is really a great vacation ,we went
to Allapey house boat for a couple of days and it was awesome. We came back
yesterday and today I got time to look into my blog.
As we are in
Kerala now I want to post a Kerala recipe today , I recently tried Chemeen
achaar(Kerala prawn pickle) which is a
traditional Kerala dish made with prawns.I made this pickle in OPOS (One Pot
One Shot) method ,world’s easiest method
of cooking!!
Before
starting opos pls read OPOS manual and understand about it for easy cooking. There are so many videos in
youtube about opos and also you can search in google about opos.
RECIPE
FOUNDER : MR.RAMAKRISHNAN – FOUNDER OF OPOS COOKING.
SERVINGS : 3
MEMBERS.
INGREDIENTS :
Prawns – 500
gms.
Salt – 2 tsp.
Chilli powder
– 2 tsp.
Fenugreek
powder – ¼ tsp.
Turmeric
powder – ¼ tsp.
Asafoetida –
¼ tsp.
Coconut oil –
¼ cup.
Ginger garlic
paste – 6 tsp.
Tamarind juice
– 1/8 cup.
METHOD :
1)
For
OPOS cooking there is no need of long recipes , just you follow the recipe card
and you will get perfect dish 😃.
2)
Wash
and clean prawns well , As I used medium sized prawns I removed the green
coloured veins too .In case of small prawns there is no need to remove the
veins ,but if you are using medium sized prawns or bigger prawns then you have
to cut open the prawns lengthwise remove the veins ( refer picture).
That dark green or black thread must be |
4)
In
your 2 litres pressure cooker add oil , followed by ginger garlic paste , marinated
prawns , tamarind juice (do not mix),close the cooker and cook in high heat for 2 whistles.
NOTES :
1)
Actual
recipe card says to add the tamarind juice after prawns are cooked , somehow I
don’t like the smell of tamarind so I added while cooking prawns itself.
