DRUMSTICK LEAVES SOUP / HEALTHY SOUP

DRUMSTICK LEAVES!! Many people don't know about the health benefits of this plant . Right from leaves to vegetable this plant contains so many vitamins that are very very essential to us.
It has abundance of Iron and Vitamin C which is must for kids ,Also it helps in reducing blood cholesterol and maintains sugar levels which is very must needed for adults today.

My mum planted this drumstick plant in her garden in home town so whatever she cooks like fritters , cutlet or sambar she adds a bunch of fresh drumstick leaves from the plant while cooking!
Everyday morning my Dad and Mum takes this Drumstick soup and also a tsp of Fenugreek powder to maintain their diet.
I like to share this diet drumstick leaves soup with you also as it can be consumed by everyone irrespective of any age.Its winter season so it is the right time to start with any soup.
The recipe is as below,

INGREDIENTS :

Drumstick leaves – 1 cup
Pepper/Milagu – 1/2 tsp.
Garlic – 2 pods.
Cumin / Zerra – 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves – a sprig.
Salt – as required.

METHOD :
  1. Wash,clean and remove the stem from drumstick leaves ( you can leave smaller stems as you are going to drink only soup).
  2. In a open vessel add cleaned leaves , water and boil till the water level reduces to one cup.
  3. In the mean time crush pepper , garlic , cumin and curry leaves coarsely.

  4. When the drumstick leaves water reduced to 1/3 of its actual quantity remove from heat and strain it.Discard the leaves.
  5. Add salt , crushed pepper ,garlic,cumin,curry leaves to soup and enjoy hot.
  6. You can even leave the soup for half and hour undisturbed so that the flavors from garlic ,cumin,pepper will blend with soup well.
  7. Enjoy the healthy soup and stay healthy.

NOTES :
1) If you could get fresh , young leaves it will taste amazing for soup .If you could not get young light green leaves its ok you can use bigger leaves also.
