Hi
Friends,
Grandma
will prepare a dish with everything , She will not waste
anything.Older generations know the value of natural resources so
they used every part of vegetables. They make chutney with ridgeguard
skin ( which we usually throw away ) and also pakoda with snakeguard
seeds.
My
grandma says seeds from snakeguard is actually very good for health
and earlier she use to make kootu but she forgot that recipe.
She
still remembered this pakoda recipe. When I told her about my blog
she immediately gave me this recipe , me and my mum tried it that
evening itself.It was actually good!
Only
thing we need to consider is the seeds,it should be soft and
young.Bigger seeds will be hard so we cannot chew but young seeds
will be soft and easy to bite.Next time when you buy snakeguard don't
throw the seeds just like that, reserve the small ,soft seeds and
make pakoda out of it.
The
recipe is as below,
INGREDIENTS
:
Snakeguard
seeds – 1/2 cup.
Onion
– 1/2 cup (chopped).
Curry
leaves – 1 sprig.
All
purpose flour / Maida – 1/2 cup.
Besan
flour – 1 cup.
Bajji
mix – 1/2 cup.
Chilli
powder – 1/2 tsp.
Salt
– as required.
PREPARATION
:
- Chop curry leaves to small pieces.
- In a wide bowl add all the above ingredients and mix till no lumps.
- Add required amount of water and mix to form thick pakoda consistency (as in picture).
- Heat oil in wide kadai and drop the batter as small balls and deep fry till golden brown.
- Remove from oil ,drain the oil and serve hot.
NOTES
:
- Make sure you use only young and soft seeds.Bigger seeds will be hard and you cannot chew.
- In case you don't use Bajji mix , you can replace it with besan flour , asafoetida , chilli powder and cooking soda(a pinch).
