Hi All,
STUFFED MIRCHI SALAN!! We always prepare only bajji with
this mirchi but last week I brought some bajji mirchis and there was too many
to prepare only bajji ! So I thought of making something different and searched
in net to find this gravy recipe.
But actual recipe goes well with fried rice and briyani and
also they make this gravy with real long mirchi (not with bajji mirchi L) but I want it to go with
Chapthi and Dosa so I altered the recipe as per my requirement and tired it.It
came out to be well and worth a try.
The ingredients looks like a big list but recipe is so
simple.
The recipe is as below,
INGREDIENTS :
Bajji Mirchi – 3 nos.
Onion – 1 nos (big).
Tomato – 1 no(big)
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Coriander powder – ½ tsp.
Curry leaves – a sprig.
Oil – 1 tsp
Oil – for deep frying chillies.
SAUTE
AND GRIND TO PASTE :
Onion – 1 no(big)
Ginger 1 ½” piece – 1
Garlic – 5 pods
Dry red chilli – 3
Sesame seeds – ½ tsp
Groundnut – ½ tsp
Cinnamon / pattai
1” piece – 1 no
Cloves / Krambu – 2 nos
Fennel seeds / Sombu – ½ tsp
Cumin / Zeera – ½ tsp
Khus khus / Poppy seeds – ¼ tsp
Coconut - 6 tsp.
Oil – 2 tsp.
FOR BATTER : (OPTIONAL ,YOU CAN EVEN SKIP THIS STEP)
All purpose flour – 1 ½ cup
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Chilli chicken powder – 1 tsp
Cornflour mix – 3 tsp
Salt – as required.
FOR STUFFING :
Potato – 2 nos
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Onion – 5 tsp
Garammasala – ½ tsp
Cumin powder – ½ tsp
Salt – ½ tsp.
PREPARATION :
1) Saute
the grinding ingredients after frying in a tsp of oil and grind to fine paste.
2) Clean
and slit open the mirchi chillies and remove the seeds.
3) Boil
and mash the potatoes , then mix the potato with our stuffing ingredients (
chillipowder , chopped onions , garam masala , cumin powder and salt).
4) Now
stuff the slitted chill with the mixed potato and close the chillies (as in
picture).
5) In a
bowl mix all purpose flour , chilli powder , chillichicken powder , cornflour
mix and salt and add ¼ cup water and mix to form idli batter consistency (
you can even skip this step , we like the chewy texture in chillies so I did it ..if you
don’t want you can skip this and fry the chillies directly in oil too).
6) Dip
each of the stuffed chilli in above batter and deep fry in oil till golden brown , drain the oil
and keep aside.
7) In a
pan add 1 tsp of oil followed by onions , curry leaves and fry till translucent.
8) When
onions are done add tomatoes and fry till mushy , followed by turmeric powder ,
coriander powder and sauté once.
9) Now
add the ground masala and boil for 5 mins till the gravy reaches required
consistency.
10)
When your gravy is ready finally add the fried
chillies and garnish with coriander leaves and give a quick mix and serve.
11)
The gravy goes best with dosa and chapathis
too.
NOTES :
1) After
adding chillies to gravy don’t boil the gravy .as already everything is boiled
and fried just add the chillies and serve.
2) As my
Chillies are very long I cutted them into pieces and added to gravy , you can
add as it is.
3) If you
want the gravy to be very simple , you can just fry the chillies in oil without
even stuffing and add to gravy.
HAPPY COOKING!!
