Hi All,
PALM FRUIT KHEER / PAYASAM!! I love payasam , And during my marriage payasam is the only sweet which I Know to make and for all festivals I make only payasam.I will refrigerate and enjoy it for 2 days even.Recently I saw in Bangalore lot of shops selling palm fruit ,I recollected my childhood days when we had fresh palm fruits in my grandma's house during summer holidays .Now we don't get fresh palm fruits even in my home town but here in Bangalore we get a lot so I brought a bunch of palm fruits and wanted to make something with it.
During this vacation visit my mum gave me a collection of recipes which she has collected for more than 20 years , when I reviewed one of those books I got this recipe ,I altered the recipe a little and made this kheer.
The taste was so amazing and it is very good to beat summer heat , happy to share the recipe with you ,

INGREDIENTS :
Palm fruit – 3 pieces.
Milk – 2 cup + 1/4 cup.
Cashews – 7 nos.
Poppy seeds – 1 tsp
Sugar – 5 tsp.

METHOD :
  1. Boil milk till foams up and then reduce the heat.
  2. Take 1/4 cup of milk separately and soak cashews ,poppy seeds for 10 mins. The grind them to fine paste.
  3. Keep boiling the milk till it reduces to half , add peeled cardamom , sugar , cashew poppy seeds paste and keep boiling in low flame.
  4. Keep mixing for every 2 mins to prevent from bottom burning.
  5. When milk thickens a little ,remove from flame and let the mixture come down to room temperature.
  6. In the mean time peel the skin of palm fruit and grind one palm fruit to fine puree ,And chop the balance palm fruits to small pieces.
  7. When milk reaches room temperature , add palm fruit puree and mix well.
  8. Finally garnish with chopped fruit pieces and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  9. Serve chilled .
NOTES :
  1. Give enough time for kheer to set taste.
  2. The kheer tastes amazing when chilled so serve chilled.
  3. Instead of palm fruit you can add tender pulp and tender water too.

KADAMBA / KANAVA MASALA /SQUID FISH CURRY

Hi, Sea has lot of creatures in it that we can cook and we were much more unaware of many . Squid fish is one among the yummy species which I was totally unaware even after coming to Chennai. One day in market I saw them and surprised that they are selling octopus ( it looked like that to me :)). Then I surfed in net and found actually they are squid ( kadamba / kanava) and not octopus , My friend Saranya cooked this gravy for us during her visit to our home .I copied the recipe from her and tried next week itself.Though the squid fish looks very weird the taste was so yummy and there is no fish odor in that.It just tasted like mutton. The cleaning part is little tricky but easy, I suggest once you finished cleaning dispose the waste immediately out of your house as the waste from squid fish is very smelly and also it starts leaving water .So dispose the waste of squid as quick as possible. Other than that the fish tastes heaven , spicy, yummy and very easy to cook. I have
