RAGI CHOCO MALT / FINGER MILLET CHOCO DRINK

Hi Everyone,
I gave ragi porridge to my daughter when she was little , now she refuses to eat ragi and now a days she likes anything with chocolate flavour.So I made this Ragi chocolate drink powder for her and she loved it so much ,Everyday morning she asks me “ amma choco drink😋😋” ,so the project was great success.
Sharing the yummy , healthy ,Ragi chocolate malt recipe with you too,
INGREDIENTS :
Ragi sprouts flour – 1/2 cup ( recipe link here)
Cocoa powder – 1/4 cup.
Cardamom – 3 nos.
Cashews – 1 tsp.
Almonds / badam – 2 tsp ( 12 pcs).
Pista – 2 tsp ( 12 pcs).

FOR DRINK :
Milk – 1 cup.
Organic cane sugar – 1 tsp.

METHOD : 
  1. Dry roast almonds , cashews , pista separately in low flame till slightly roasted.Remove them to a plate.

  2. Dry roast ragi powder in low flame till aroma and remove from flame.
  3. Let all the above ingredients cool down to room temperature.
  4. In your food processor(mixie) add ragi powder ,cocoa powder and grind in pulse mode for 30 seconds ( for even , lump free mixing).Transfer to a plate.
  5. Now add fried nuts ,cardamom in food processor and pulse for 30 seconds till they grind to fine powder.
  6. Now sieve all the powders together . After sieving grind again the balance grainy residue .
  7. Repeat the step 6 till everything is ground to fine powder and sieved completely.
  8. Store the powder in airtight container .
    TO MAKE RAGI MALT :
  1. Boil milk till foams up and reduce the flame to low.
  2. Take 2 tsp of milk in a glass and add 1 tsp ragi cocoa powder and mix well.This is done to prevent lumps.
  3. Now add the above mixture to boiling milk and boil for 2 mins till the milk turns to light brown colour.
  4. Remove from flame , strain the milk , add sugar ,mix and serve.
NOTES :
  1. Do not roast nuts for long time , too much of roasting makes nuts to leave oil and will become sticky while grinding.
  2. Also grinding the nuts too much will make the nuts to leave oil and will not give fine powder so always grind in pulse mode for 30 seconds with regular intervals.
  3. While making ragi malt , never add the powder directly to boiling milk.This will result in lumps and ragi will not boil properly so always mix the powder well in little milk and then add to boiling milk.
  4. Instead of organic cane sugar ,you can use white sugar too.
  5. Instead of sprouts ragi powder , you can use normal ragi powder too.But my personal suggestion don't use store brought powder try to make it in home .It is so easy to make ragi powder in home,you can make them in no time.so try in home.
  6. Use good quality cocoa powder , I used Hershey.
