CHANNADAL SWEET IDLI

Hi All,
Drafting a recipe after a long time ,This year our summer vacation was really great , we enjoyed in Kerala and also in Pollachi ( Tamil Nadu).Due to mobile network issues I was not able to post any new recipe for past 20 days and only yesterday we returned back to Bangalore.
Today Iam posting a recipe which my mum made for us when we were in Pollachi ,She made this Channa Dal sweet idli for evening snack and it was really very yummy , light and perfect for evening snack and yes..it is healthy too.
I clicked the pictures in mobile and due to lighting the pictures may not be much clear.
The simple ,easy recipe is as below,

YIELDS : 20 IDLIS.

INGREDIENTS :
Channa dal - 300gms
Raw rice - 25 gms
Jaggery - 200 gms
Grated coconut - 1 cup or even more
Cooking soda - 1/4 tsp
Cardamom - 4 nos

METHOD :
  1. Soak channa dal and rice in enough water for 8 hours.
  2. Grind soaked channa dal, rice to coarse paste without adding water.
  1. Finally add jaggery, elaichi to above mixture and grind once to mix well.
  1. Empty the contents to a bowl and add coconut, cooking soda and mix well.
  1. The mixture will be in idli batter consistency, if not then add little water to bring to idli batter consistency.
  1. Pour in idli pan and boil for 10 mins or more till the tooth pick comes out clean.

  2. When boiled invert the idlis to a plate and serve hot with a cup of coffee.
NOTES :
Jaggery can be replaced with white sugar too. But palm jaggery or cane jaggery is best.

WARM WATER CHAPATI / BEGINNER GUIDE FOR SOFT CHAPATI
