BONDA CHUTNEY

BONDA CHUTNEY!! This chutney is always an amazing combination with any type of bondas and bajjis.Not only with bonda ,this chutney will go great with kara dosa too.
And this is one of the easy chutney you could make in 5 mins.
I have tasted similar chutney in my home town , there is a small roadside shop and the shopkeeper gives us this type of chutney folded in Banana leaf ,since then I want to make this type of chutney and then I saw this in a Tv show ,immedialty I bookmarked the recipe.
So whenever I make bonda , whithout this chutney bondas will not taste full :)).

The simple recipe is as below,
SERVINGS : 3 members.
COOKING TIME : 5 mins.

INGREDIENTS :
Onion – 1 no ( large).
Dry red chillies – 2 nos.
Coconut – 2 tsp
Salt – as required
Jaggery – 1/2 tsp
Tamarind – 1” piece – 1 no.
Gingelly oil – 2 tsp.
Mustard – 1/4 tsp,
Dry ref chilli – 1 no.

METHOD :
  1. Grind onion , dry red chillies,coconut , salt , jaggery , tamarind to fine paste.
  2. Empty the contents to a bowl.
  3. Heat oil in a small pan , add mustard and when mustard splutters add dry red chillies and saute till light brown.
  4. Add the sauteed ingredients to ground chutney and mix.
  5. Serve with hot bajjis , bonda and also goes well with karadosa.I served with beetroot bonda.

KADAMBA / KANAVA MASALA /SQUID FISH CURRY

Hi, Sea has lot of creatures in it that we can cook and we were much more unaware of many . Squid fish is one among the yummy species which I was totally unaware even after coming to Chennai.One day in market I saw them and surprised that they are selling octopus ( it looked like that to me :)). Then I surfed in net and found actually they are squid ( kadamba / kanava) and not octopus , My friend Saranya cooked this gravy for us during her visit to our home .I copied the recipe from her and tried next week itself.Though the squid fish looks very weird the taste was so yummy and there is no fish odor in that.It just tasted like mutton. The cleaning part is little tricky but easy, I suggest once you finished cleaning dispose the waste immediately out of your house as the waste from squid fish is very smelly and also it starts leaving water .So dispose the waste of squid as quick as possible.
