Hi
All,
Iam
trying to post more rice side dishes in my blog ! Let me try to
post maximum in this week.
Today's
recipe is MOONG DAL MASIYAL / KADAISAL.In our town we use to say as
Pasipairu Kadaisal ( as we use to mash it with traditional butter
milk beater) , but commonly they say as Masiyal.
Coming
back to recipe I have already posted Paripairu Kuzhambu recipe(
recipe link here) and this is another version of Pasipairu gravy. The
older version was viewer recipe which I tried and posted and this
version is my version which we are following for decades. The recipe
is so simple yet very very healthy.I always cook sprouted dals in my cooking so I
used same here also.
You
can even cook with unsprouted dal too.
The
recipe is as below,

SAUTEING :

Onions
– 1/2 no ( big ) ( you can use small / pearl onions – 5 nos too)

METHOD
:

- Chop Onions to medium sized bits.
- Open the cooker and transfer the contents to mixer ,add onions and pulse once or twice to grind the mixture to very coarse paste.
- Heat oil in shallow vessel , add mustard ,curry leaves , onions and saute till onions translucent.
- When done add the ground mixture , water if required , check for salt. And boil till required consistency.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and remove from flame.
- Top with a tsp ghee and serve hot with rice.
NOTES
:
- I used sprouted moong dal , you can use unsprouted moong dal also .In that case boil moong dal for 3 to 4 whistles.
- Be generous in adding onions as it gives fantastic taste.
- Grind the moong dal to very coarse paste so grind in pulse mode . Fine paste will spoil the flavor so take care while grinding.HAPPY COOKING!!
