RADISH PORIYAL

Hi Everyone,
Radish poriyal / Stir fry! My sister introduced me this poriyal recipe. When she was in Hyderabad her neighbour taught her this yummy sidedish recipe. My sister use to cook this radish in cooker but I felt like some sort of odour in cooker boiling so made in tawa itself. The recipe is so simple just like other poriyal but you need to take care in adding water alone.
The recipe is as below,

SERVINGS : 3 members.
INGREDIENTS :
Radish – 1 big sized.
Onions – 1 no ( big).
Green chillies – 3 nos.
Coconut oil – 1 tsp.
Mustard – 1/4 tsp.
Curry leaves – a sprig.
Coconut – 1/4 cup.
Channa dal – 1/2 tsp.
Urad dal – 1/2 tsp.
Salt – as required.

METHOD :
  1. Peel the radish skin and cube them to small sized cubes.
  2. Chop onions and green chillies to small bits.Grate coconut.
  3. Boil radish with salt and little water ( appx 1/8 cup) , less than immersing level is enough.Boil with closed pan.
  4. In a small pan heat oil , followed by mustard and when mustard splutters add channa dal , urad dal and fry till brown. Then add onions , curry leaves , green chillies and fry till light brown.
  5. Finally add grated coconut ,fry for a minute and switch off the flame.
  6. Add the fried ingredients to boiled radish and mix in medium flame for 2 mins , until all the ingredients incorporate well.
  7. Serve with hot rice , chapatis and pulka of your choice.

NOTES :
  1. Don't add too much water while boiling , this is spoil the taste and also radish will become mushy.
  2. Be generous in adding coconut.
  3. Coconut oil is recommended.

    HAPPY COOKING!!
