CHICKEN SOUP / KOZHI RASAM.

Hi All,
Now its time to go for some winter foods!! Need to take lot of soup ,Taking soup helps in maintaining body temperature and also helps us to keep hydrated.In winters our water intake will be low so try to take many liquid foods.
I make this chicken soup almost every week during winters.This recipe I inherited from my Mother and I say this is the yummiest soup I always have.
The simple recipe is as below,
SERVINGS : 3 members.
INGREDIENTS :
Chicken ( with bones ) - 1 cup.
Tomato – 1 no ( medium sized).
Green chillies – 2 nos.
Cinnamon( pattai) – 3 pcs.
Cloves ( krambu) – 5 nos.
Coconut milk – 1/4 cup.
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp.
Pepper powder – 1 tsp.
Coriander leaves - a bunch ( I had only little so I added only few).
Salt – as required.
Lemon juice – 1 tsp.
METHOD :
  1. Dry roast cinnamon , cloves in low flame till aroma arises and powder them finely.
  2. In a vessel add chicken pieces , 3 cups of water,tomato , green chillies ,salt and boil till the water reduces to 2 cups.
  3. Now remove the chicken pieces from water and keep it aside . Using a ladle smash the tomatoes and chillies and mix well with chicken water.
  4. Add coconut milk , cinnamon/cloves powder , coriander powder , coriander leaves to chicken water and boil for 5 mins in medium flame.
  5. Finally remove the bones from the boiled chicken and add only the flesh part to soup and give a quick mix.
  6. Switch off the flame and let the soup rest for 5 mins , squeeze lemon juice and mix well.
  7. Serve hot with pepper powder.
