Hi
All,
BABY
AND TODDLER FOODS !!
Many
viewers ask me about Baby and toddlers foods. But as already my
daughter is 3 years old Iam not making those baby foods now.I have
noted all the foods and recipes which I gave her during early stage
,so I will post the recipes and details. As of now I will post only
the recipes , if time permits I will make and take pictures and
post.Hope this may help new mommies :))
The
details are as below,
8TH
MONTH :
FIRST
WEEK:CARROT.
- First week started with carrot , chop carrot to big sized pieces and boil till it cooks super soft.
- Mash it with little water and feed your baby.No need to add sugar or salt.
SECOND
WEEK: IDLI
- Started second week with soft idlis , Mash well idlis and add little water to make it to puree .If needed add little salt , but don't add sugar.Start with quarter idlis and increase upto 1 idli.
THIRD
WEEK : COW MILK.
- Doctor suggested not to feed her with cow milk until nine months , but as she developed taste buds now and she expected tasty foods . So whatever puree or porridge I mix with water she doesn't like and refused to eat.
- So I started adding cow's milk to porridge and puree and fed her.Just 1 ot 2 tsps.
- Then slowly I reduced formula milk quantity and increased cow's milk.
- When you are starting with cow's milk you must be very careful.Add more water while boiling cow's milk.
- Boil cow's milk till it foams up well.
- Then add water ( 1 cup milk with 3 cup of water) and again boil till it foams well.
- Remove from heat and let it cool down.
- Now add it to your puree or porridge and feed your babies.
- Cow milk caused diarrhea and vomiting to babies , in that case immediately stop it for a month and continue with mother's milk.
FOURTH
WEEK : RAGI / FINGER MILLET PORRIDGE.
- Started fourth week with ragi / finger millet porridge . Ragi is very good for babies and you must feed them with ragi.
- Wash ragi well with water and soak them overnight , next day drain the water and tie it in a cotton cloth and hung it in a place where air circulates.
- After 24 hours the ragis will sprouted well , you can sundry them and make it into fine powder and store it or grind them fresh and use ( for step by step sprouts recipe click here).RAGI POWDER :A) If you are using ragi powder then add 1 tsp of ragi powder to 2 glass of water and mix well till no lumps.B) In a wide kadai , add the mixture and boil in low flame till it changes the colour to light grey and forms thin paste. At this stage add 1/4 cup boiled milk and keep stirring till the ragi porridge forms to thin puree.C) Remove from flame and let it cool down, after cooling the porridge will become thick so remove from flame when it is in thin porridge consistency.FRESH RAGI SPROUTS :A) Add 2 tsp of fresh ragi sprouts in your food processor and add little water and grind it to fine puree.B) Strain the puree and again add water little water to residue and grind once again.C) Filter the juice alone and throw the residue.D) Add the ragi juice in a wide kadai and boil as per the above process ( like ragi powder porridge).

- Always sterilize the vessels and spoons which you are using for kids.
- Boil water in a wide vessel and add all the baby vessels in boiling water for 2 mins , switch off the flame and let it be for 5 more mins.
- Then remove from water and used it for baby feeding.
- Whenever you introduce a new food to baby , first feed them with 1 or 2 tsps and wait for a day to check allergy or rashes or continuous crying. If so then stop that food immediately and try after 1 month.
- Mother's milk is always best for babies so feed your kid with mother's milk as much as possible and as many times as needed.
- Once you start giving cow milk stop feeding formula milk.
- Always feed fruits only during day time ( around 12 pm).
