CHOCOLATE SPONGE CAKE

Hi All,
CHOCOLATE SPONGE CAKE!! I made this cake for my neighbour's birthday.When I made blackforest cake for my husband's birthday ,our neighbour uncle booked for this cake.
As his wife is a lover for chocolate I planned to make chocolate sponge cake for his birthday.
The cake came out very well ,soft , chocolatey , buttery and of course yummy.
The recipe is as below,

INGREDIENTS :
Somehow I forgot to measure in weight scale so pls bear with cup measurements! If you still need clarification pls mention in comment section , i will measure and update.

All purpose flour / Maida – 2 cup.
Cocoa powder – 1/2 cup.
Baking powder – 1 1/4 tsp.
Salt – 1/2 tsp.
Butter – 200 gms ( appx 1 1/4 cup).
Sugar – 2 cups.
Eggs – 3 nos.
Vanilla essence – 1 1/2 tsp.
Ice water – 1 1/4 cup.


METHOD :
  1. Sieve our dry ingredients - all purpose flour , cocoa powder , baking powder , salt together twice for even and lump free mixing.

  2. In your food processor add sugar and powder it , then add butter and beat till creamy.
  3. Then crack open a egg to processor and beat till foamy.Then next egg ,like wise add one egg at a time and beat till foamy.

  4. Now empty the wet content to a wide bowl ,add vanilla essence, add dry ingredients and cold water little by little and mix well.

  5. Add water little by little to batter and mix in flip method to form ribbon consistency.

  6. Pre-heat oven to 170”C to 40 mins .
  7. Grease the pan with butter and dust with cocoa powder .
  8. Fill the pan with cake batter till half and tap it twice for even spreading.
  9. Bake in pre-heated oven for 30 to 40 mins , until the toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Remove from oven and let the cake cool down to room temperature.
  11. Invert from pan , slice gently as the cake will be very very soft.
  12. Enjoy soft , moist cake .
  13. I frosted the cake with chocolate cream(will share the recipe soon) and served.


NOTES :
  1. All the ingredients except water must be in room temperature.
  2. As I don't have electric beater , I used food processor ( mixie) to beat eggs and butter.You can use electric beater too in that case use powdered sugar(castor sugar).
  3. While adding water be careful , add little by little to form ribbon consistency only.
  4. After 30 mins of baking ,insert a knife or toothpick and check for clean and extent baking time accordingly as baking time may vary from oven to oven.
