SESAME BALLS / ELLU URANDAI

Hi All,
Planned to make healthy Karthigai Jothi balls , but I was hesitated to make sugar syrup. When I was thinking to make with opos sugar syrup , my mum gave this simple easy recipe , no boiling , no tension just so easy.
The recipe is so simple that all you need is to dry roast , grind and make it to balls.Sesame is very good for women's health and it has good proteins for kids health. So make many dishes with sesame as possible.

Here below the recipe for you,

INGREDIENTS :
Sesame seeds / Ellu – 1/2 cup.
Jaggery (powdered) – 1/2 cup.
Groundnut / peanuts– 2 tsp.
Roasted channa dal / – 2 tsp.
Ghee – 2 tsp.

PREPARATION :
  1. Dry roast sesame in low heat till it starts spluttering.Same way dry roast groundnut , channa dal to golden brown.Let the ingredients cool down to room temperature.

  2. In your food processor grind sesame , groundnut , channa dal together to fine powder ( even little coarse powder is ok too).
  3. Finally add jaggery to above mixture and pulse once or twice till jaggery grounds to fine powder and mixes with nuts.

  4. Heat ghee in a wide pan and add above mixture , mix gently till they form mass. When the mixture reaches ball consistency remove from flame.

  5. If still you are not able to make balls out of it then add few tsp of hot milk and mix quickly .
6.Then grease your hands with a drop of ghee and make medium sized balls and enjoy.

NOTES :
  1. Some jaggery will become mushy during grinding itself. In that case no need to fry in hot ghee , just add a tsp of ghee and make balls out of it.
    2) If you are adding hot milk , once you add milk mix very quickly , as hot milk may caramelize the mixture and will form uneven grains.

    HAPPY COOKING!!!

KADAMBA / KANAVA MASALA /SQUID FISH CURRY

Hi, Sea has lot of creatures in it that we can cook and we were much more unaware of many . Squid fish is one among the yummy species which I was totally unaware even after coming to Chennai. One day in market I saw them and surprised that they are selling octopus ( it looked like that to me :)). Then I surfed in net and found actually they are squid ( kadamba / kanava) and not octopus , My friend Saranya cooked this gravy for us during her visit to our home .I copied the recipe from her and tried next week itself.Though the squid fish looks very weird the taste was so yummy and there is no fish odor in that.It just tasted like mutton. The cleaning part is little tricky but easy, I suggest once you finished cleaning dispose the waste immediately out of your house as the waste from squid fish is very smelly and also it starts leaving water .So dispose the waste of squid as quick as possible. Other than that the fish tastes heaven , spicy, yummy and very easy to cook. I have
