PEANUT BALLS / KADALAI URUNDAI

Hi All,
Yesterday I posted Sesame Balls recipe for Karthigai Jothi celebration.Today I made Groundnut balls/Kadalai urandai in the same technique that I used in sesame balls. The recipe was so simple and easy as there is no need of sugar syrup. But the taste was awesome and the ladoo stayed good even after 4 days.
So for this karthigai make these easy ladoo recipes and enjoy healthily.

The recipe is as below,

SERVINGS : Yields about 10 ladoos.

INGREDIENTS :
Groundnut / Peanuts – 1/2 cup.
Powdered jaggery – 1/2 cup.
Ghee – 1 tsp.
Hot milk – 1/4 cup ( optional , if required).

NEED CLARIFICATION ABOUT MY MEASUREMENTS ? PLS CLICK TO CLARIFY.

METHOD :
  1. Dry roast groundnut in low flame till it turns brown and aroma comes. If you crush the groundnut skin then it must peel out from groundnut like paper. It means groundnut is roasted well ,you can remove from flame.

  2. When groundnut reaches room temperature grind them to fine powder ( little coarse powder is also ok).
  3. Add jaggery to powdered groundnut and grind once till jaggery is powdered well and mixes with groundnut.
  4. Heat 1 tsp ghee in wide pan and add the ground mixture , give a quick mix until the mixture forms thick sticky mass.
Now remove from flame , grease your hands with a drop of ghee and make small balls out of the groundnut mixture.
  5. Let the balls rest for 1 hour to set and then enjoy.

NOTES :
  1. If the mixture does not form balls and looks dry , Add 1 tsp of hot milk to the mixture and give quick mix . But add milk carefully as adding too much milk will spoil the texture.

    HAPPY COOKING!!

KADAMBA / KANAVA MASALA /SQUID FISH CURRY

Hi, Sea has lot of creatures in it that we can cook and we were much more unaware of many . Squid fish is one among the yummy species which I was totally unaware even after coming to Chennai. One day in market I saw them and surprised that they are selling octopus ( it looked like that to me :)). Then I surfed in net and found actually they are squid ( kadamba / kanava) and not octopus , My friend Saranya cooked this gravy for us during her visit to our home .I copied the recipe from her and tried next week itself.Though the squid fish looks very weird the taste was so yummy and there is no fish odor in that.It just tasted like mutton. The cleaning part is little tricky but easy, I suggest once you finished cleaning dispose the waste immediately out of your house as the waste from squid fish is very smelly and also it starts leaving water .So dispose the waste of squid as quick as possible. Other than that the fish tastes heaven , spicy, yummy and very easy to cook. I have
