CORIANDER LEAVES CHUTNEY / KOTHAMALLI THUVAYAL

Hi All,
Holiday josh started for me..Iam going to home town tomorrow and for whole one week it is going to be family get together :)) ..Cant wait to meet you guys !!!.
Today's recipe is CORIANDER CHUTNEY!! My family is full of people with different tastes ! My daughter loves Mint chutney but hubby's favorite is Coriander chutney and my taste is...nothing I will eat everything 😍.
I make coriander chutney every week especially for dosa .Coriander chutney and dosa are one of the best pair ,We love it!!
The recipe is so simple , just like other green leaves chutney only. You can even skip adding coconut also but we always like coconut touch in everything so I add always.
The easy recipe is as below,

INGREDIENTS :
Coriander leaves – 3 cups ( one complete bunch).
Urad dal – 1 1/2 tsp.
Channa dal – 1 1 /2 tsp.
Grated coconut – 2 tsp ( optional).
Tamarind – 3 peanut sized balls.
Salt – as required.
Green chillies – 3 nos.
Dry red chillies – 2 nos.
Coconut oil – 2 tsp.

METHOD :
  1. Clean and wash coriander leaves well , cut and discard only the roots of coriander plant and you can use rest of the plant along with stem for chutney.
  2. Heat oil in a wide kadai and add green chillies and dry chillies ,saute till they changes its colour.
  3. Then add urad dal and channa dal and saute in low flame till they turn golden brown and aroma arises.
  4. Now add coriander leaves and fry in medium flame till they shrinks well and changes to dark colour ( refer picture).
  5. Finally add tamarind , coconut ,salt and give a quick mix and switch off the flame.
  6. When the mixture reaches room temperature grind it to fine, thick paste with little water.
  7. Empty the contents to serving bowl and enjoy with hot idli or crispy dosa.
    NOTES :
  1. Coriander stem has lot of health benefits so don't discard it.
  2. Always saute in low or medium flame to get better taste.
  3. Add little water while grinding , as it tastes awesome in thick consistency.
  4. Be generous in adding urad dal and channa dal ,they tastes amazing with coriander.
  5. Adding coconut is optional , you can even skip it.But I always add.

MY OTHER GREEN LEAVES CHUTNEY RECIPES ARE,

    HAPPY COOKING!!

KADAMBA / KANAVA MASALA /SQUID FISH CURRY

Hi, Sea has lot of creatures in it that we can cook and we were much more unaware of many . Squid fish is one among the yummy species which I was totally unaware even after coming to Chennai. One day in market I saw them and surprised that they are selling octopus ( it looked like that to me :)). Then I surfed in net and found actually they are squid ( kadamba / kanava) and not octopus , My friend Saranya cooked this gravy for us during her visit to our home .I copied the recipe from her and tried next week itself.Though the squid fish looks very weird the taste was so yummy and there is no fish odor in that.It just tasted like mutton. The cleaning part is little tricky but easy, I suggest once you finished cleaning dispose the waste immediately out of your house as the waste from squid fish is very smelly and also it starts leaving water .So dispose the waste of squid as quick as possible. Other than that the fish tastes heaven , spicy, yummy and very easy to cook. I have
